Waiting On Wednesday (8)

Hi guys! It's Waiting On Wednesday again, hosted by the ever lovely Jill from Breaking The Spine. So what are we waiting for this week??

Shades of Earth (Across the Universe # 3) by Beth Revis

Release Date: January 15th, 2013

Caution: Spoilers from the Across The Universe Series ahead!

Amy and Elder have finally left the oppressive walls of the spaceship Godspeed behind. They're ready to start life afresh--to build a home--on Centauri-Earth, the planet that Amy has traveled 25 trillion miles across the universe to experience.

But this new Earth isn't the paradise Amy had been hoping for. There are giant pterodactyl-like birds, purple flowers with mind-numbing toxins, and mysterious, unexplained ruins that hold more secrets than their stone walls first let on. The biggest secret of all? Godspeed's former passengers aren't alone on this planet. And if they're going to stay, they'll have to fight.

Amy and Elder must race to discover who--or what--else is out there if they are to have any hope of saving their struggling colony and building a future together. They will have to look inward to the very core of what makes them human on this, their most harrowing journey yet. Because if the colony collapses? Then everything they have sacrificed--friends, family, life on Earth--will have been for nothing.

FUELED BY LIES.
RULED BY CHAOS.
ALMOST HOME.

Why We're Waiting

Oh. My. Goodness. When the first book came out a few years ago, I was, like, meh. This is okay. (Read my review here. I wrote it when I was, like, eleven, so bear with me.) When the second book came out this year, just reading it was a thrill. I flipped through it into the wee hours of the night, the claustrophobic Godspeed a perfect setting for a mystery. Now that the third book comes out soon, I CANNOT WAIT to figure out Amy and Eldest's next adventures through Centauri-Earth. January 15th will not come sooner!!

So what are you waiting on this fabulous Wednesday? Leave a comment and a link!

Waiting on Wednesday (7)

The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan

Expected Publication: October 2nd, 2012

Annabeth is terrified. Just when she’s about to be reunited with Percy—after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera—it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her friends Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she can’t blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon masthead, Leo’s fantastical creation doesn’t appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans that the visitors from Camp Half-Blood are coming in peace.

And that’s only one of her worries. In her pocket Annabeth carries a gift from her mother that came with an unnerving demand: Follow the Mark of Athena. Avenge me. Annabeth already feels weighed down by the prophecy that will send seven demigods on a quest to find—and close— the Doors of Death. What more does Athena want from her?

Annabeth’s biggest fear, though, is that Percy might have changed. What if he’s now attached to Roman ways? Does he still need his old friends? As the daughter of the goddess of war and wisdom, Annabeth knows she was born to be a leader, but never again does she want to be without Seaweed Brain by her side.

Narrated by four different demigods, The Mark of Athena is an unforgettable journey across land and sea to Rome, where important discoveries, surprising sacrifices, and unspeakable horrors await. Climb aboard the Argo II, if you dare. . . . -GoodReads

WHY WE'RE WAITING THIS WEDNESDAY

Tsk, tsk, yes, we're pretty cliche. But who ISN'T waiting for The Mark of Athena?!?!?! Someone who's been living under a rock, because I am pumped up and ready to get my hands on that first hot-off the presses copy. Annabeth has always been my favorite character, and not only has she got some brains, but that girl rocks the invisible baseball cap. (Plus, more Percabeth action!)

So what are you waiting on this Wednesday? Let us know and leave a link-we love to hear from you!

Waiting on Wednesday (6)

Teeth
Expected Publication:
January 1st 2013 (that is, if the world is even still existing, what shame. To die without reading another one of this author's books, I may as well just DIE now.)

Rudy’s life is flipped upside-down when his family moves to a remote island in a last attempt to save his sick younger brother. With nothing to do but worry, Rudy sinks deeper and deeper into loneliness and lies awake at night listening to the screams of the ocean beneath his family’s rickety house.

Then he meets Diana, who makes him wonder what he even knows about love, and Teeth, who makes him question what he knows about anything. Rudy can’t remember the last time he felt so connected to someone, but being friends with Teeth is more than a little bit complicated. He soon learns that Teeth has terrible secrets. Violent secrets. Secrets that will force Rudy to choose between his own happiness and his brother’s life.

There are so many reasons I want to read this book. this book is by the author of
"Gone Gone Gone" and "Break" one of my all time favorite books. All of her writing is twisted and addicting. I just love her style and voice. Cannot wait for this book!!

Waiting On Wednesday (5)

Waiting On Wednesday @ A Splatter of Ink, created by the wonderful Breaking The Spine Book Blog!

The Casual Vacancy
When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock.

Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.
Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems.
And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?
Blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising, The Casual Vacancy is J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults.

****

WHY I'M WAITING ON IT: If you need explaining, I'm just gonna kick you outta here. Though Rowling's new book is for adults, there is no way her fans are going to pass on this. September 27th, here I come! (But if you do need a reason, the Dark Lord has some pretty nice arguments:

Jade's Waiting On Wednesday :

Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles #2) by

Expected publication: February 5th 2013

Cinder returns in the second thrilling installment of the New York Times-bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother and the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she has no choice but to trust him, though he clearly has a few dark secrets of his own.

As Scarlet and Wolf work to unravel one mystery, they find another when they cross paths with Cinder. Together, they must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen who will do anything to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her prisoner.

For those of you who have read Cinder, you are awesome. If you haven't then you need to! It's an amazing book with such a cliffhanger ending that I GUARENTEE you WILL punch something! I just can't wait for the sequel. Marissa Meyer has such writing that sucks you in and you just want more, and believe me; I want more! Oh, and these covers are SO gorgeous, I just love them.

And yes, these books have a fairytale theme, therefore they are even better than you imagined.

And even better after that!

Waiting on Wednesday (3)

Hullo, peeps! Welcome to Waiting On Wednesday @ A Splatter of Ink, created by the ever wonderful Breaking The Spine Book Blog!

Today, we have three selections that I have just been dying to get my hands on!
***

My Thoughts:  I have lost some of my fandom for James Patterson ever since I learned that he ghostwrites. But I have been in love with the Maximum Ride series ever since fourth grade, so it's only right to say with it 'till the end. (Even if it isn't the most well-written series in the world.... ghostwriters!)

My Thoughts: Oh. My. Gods. What else is there to say?

My Thoughts: Princess Academy has been one of my faves for forever. When I heard the sequel was coming out, I FREAKED OUT. It is not possible that this is coming out next week! I need it RIGHT NOW.

So what are you guys Waiting for this Wednesday? Leave a link and a comment and we'll check it out!

Waiting on Wednesday (2)

So what books are we waiting on this last week of the year?

Spell Bound (Hex Hall, #3)

Hailed as “impossible to put down,” the Hex Hall series has both critics and teens cheering. With a winning combination of romance, action, magic and humor, this third volume will leave readers enchanted.

Just as Sophie Mercer has come to accept her extraordinary magical powers as a demon, the Prodigium Council strips them away. Now Sophie is defenseless, alone, and at the mercy of her sworn enemies—the Brannicks, a family of warrior women who hunt down the Prodigium. Or at least that’s what Sophie thinks, until she makes a surprising discovery. The Brannicks know an epic war is coming, and they believe Sophie is the only one powerful enough to stop the world from ending. But without her magic, Sophie isn’t as confident.

Sophie’s bound for one hell of a ride—can she get her powers back before it’s too late?-Goodreads

I’m pushing aside the memory of my nightmare,
pushing aside thoughts of Alex,
pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school,
push,
push,
push,
like Raven taught me to do.
The old life is dead.
But the old Lena is dead too.
I buried her.
I left her beyond a fence,
behind a wall of smoke and flame.
Lauren Oliver delivers an electrifying follow-up to her acclaimed New York Times bestseller, Delirium. This riveting, brilliant novel crackles with the fire of fierce defiance, forbidden romance, and the sparks of a revolution about to ignite. - Goodreads
Insurgent (Divergent, #2) One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature. - Goodreads
