Cinder (Lunar Chronicles #1) by Marissa Meyer

Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)Cinder by Marissa Meyer

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

First of all, let's just say that Kai makes me swoon. He's a prince, devilishly handsome, and he's Asian!

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, the ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . .

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future. -Goodreads

It was fun reading this. If you are on a reading hiatus, you should definitely take a look at it: Cinder, which is fluffy, exciting, and kick-butt cyborg all at once, is a perfect book for those who don't want to trudge through pages like we all have to (unfortunately) do most of the time. The allusions to the Charles Perrault Cinderella were exciting to point out, and Marissa Meyer followed it very close considering that it was millions of years into the future and that Cinder has a body made out of robot parts. I'm hoping that the next books in the series will continue to have these allusions to the fairytale, although it officially 'ends' at the end of book one.

(P.S. Iko is my favorite character. End of story.)

I LOVED this book and I LOVED Iko as well! Great review! I had so much fun reading and reviewing this one. It's just so different from the other YA books out there right?
